Danbury Hospital Worker Crushed By Elevator Door: Lawsuit
Court documents say the employee was injured when an elevator door allegedly closed on her.
DANBURY, CT — A Danbury Hospital employee is suing Otis Elevator Company, saying she was injured when an elevator door closed on her in February 2024, according to court records.
In a complaint filed in Waterbury Superior Court, Susan Albino said on Feb. 15, 2024, she was entering an elevator at Danbury Hospital when the door closed quickly, continued closing after hitting an obstruction and failed to reopen.
The lawsuit states the Waterbury resident was crushed and trapped between the elevator door and door frame. She claims the elevator was defective and that Otis Elevator Company failed to properly inspect, maintain and service it.

Albino said she sustained several injuries and emotional trauma, according to the filing.
Court documents state Albino worked at Danbury Hospital at the time of the incident and received more than $32,575 in workers' compensation benefits.

Danbury Hospital has asked the court to be added to the case, seeking reimbursement for workers' compensation payments made to Albino, according to separate court filings.
The lawsuit seeks more than $15,000 in damages.
The case is set for March 10 in Waterbury Superior Court.
