Danbury Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Child: Norwalk Police

A Danbury man accused of sexually assaulting a child was arrested this week, according to police. His bond was set at $1.5 million.

NORWALK, CT — A Danbury man accused of sexually assaulting a child a number of times over the course of several years was arrested Friday, according to Norwalk police.

In a news release, Norwalk Police Lt. Joe Dinho said the department received a report on Sept. 20 of a sexual assault against a juvenile.

When officers responded, they learned further details of the incident and that the suspect had left the area. The department's special victim's unit was notified and took over the investigation, Dinho said.

After a detailed and extensive investigation was completed in partnership with the Connecticut Department of Children and Families and The Children's Connection, police determined Manuel Guaman, 46, had sexually assaulted a child "many times over several years," according to Dinho.

Police were contacted after the child told their parents what had happened, Dinho said. As a result of the investigation, police obtained an arrest warrant for Guaman.

Norwalk police, along with the U.S. Marshal Service Violent Fugitive Task Force, later received information that Guaman was staying in Danbury, where he was found by investigators and arrested Friday, Dinho said.

Guaman was charged with first-degree sexual assault of a person under 13 years old and the actor is over two years older, fourth-degree sexual assault and illegal sexual contact with a person under 13 years of age.

His bond was set at $1.5 million and he is scheduled to appear in court later this month, according to Dinho.
