Danbury Man Charged With Kidnapping, Home Invasion & Assault: PD

Police say a man broke into an apartment and forced a woman there to accompany him.

DANBURY, CT — Police charged a city man with home invasion and kidnapping, among other charges, after they say he broke into an apartment and forced a woman there to accompany him.

Around 11:30 Tuesday night, Danbury police officers investigated a disturbance at a city residence. Francisco Fontanez-Trinidad, 32, of Bennet Place, forced his way into the residence where he assaulted a man there, threatening him and brandishing a pistol, according to their report.

Police say that when the man resisted, Fontanez-Trinidad discharged the pistol, and then assaulted the victim with the gun.

Fontanez-Trinidad then "forcibly removed" a woman who was with the victim from the residence, and made her drive them to his Bennett Place residence. During the drive, Fontanez-Trinidad repeatedly assaulted the female victim, leaving visible signs of injury, according to police.

Around 45 minutes later, Fontanez-Trinidad called the Danbury PD, admitting the crime, and requesting they come to his residence, according to the report. He was arrested there without incident, and the pistol was recovered.

Police charged Fontanez-Trinidad with first-degree kidnapping with a firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm, home invasion, disorderly contact, third degree assault, first-degree threatening, and first-degree reckless endangerment. He was held on bond and scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
