Danbury Man Nominated For Head of CT Vet Affairs

A Danbury man will become the head of Connecticut's Department of Veteran Affairs

DANBURY, CT — Danbury man Thomas Saadi was nominated by Gov. Dannel Malloy to serve as the next head of the state Department of Veteran Affairs.

Saadi is a major in the U.S. Army Reserve with the 411th Civil Affairs Batallion and has been the acting commissioner of the department since October 2017. Prior to that he was the assistant attorney general and special prosecutor for the state.

"Our veterans, active duty military personnel, and their families can face significant challenges, and it is the responsibility of state government to ensure that they have access to the resources and tools they need, whether they are currently serving, just returned from deployment, or finished their service years ago,” Malloy said.

Malloy added that Saadi's experience in the U.S. Army Reserve and years of service in state government serving veterans makes him an ideal candidate.

Saadi is also a member of the Danbury City Council. He is a member of American Legion Post 60 in Danbury, Catholic War Veterans Post 1042 in Danbury, the 4th JAG Officers Association, and the Reserve Officers Association.
