The man was taken captive by five people, including several that he once called friends.

DANBURY, CT — During the trial of a civil suit stemming from a 2013 hostage ordeal, victim Amir Kirkland described the shocking details of what he went through during that time, reports the News Times.
Kirkland said he was gagged, bound, threatened with weapons and interrogated during the several-hour ordeal. The report further indicates that Kirkland had once called several of the five people who took him hostage friends.
Police say he was lured to Gabriela Olavarria's home on July 28, 2013 and was confronted by five people about money that had gone missing from a family safe. Kirkland also described the captors were drinking heavily during the situation.
