Danbury Mayor Boughton Makes Governor Run Official
The popular Danbury mayor has officially tossed his hat in the ring.

DANBURY, CT — Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton has officially tossed his hat in the ring to run for governor. It will be the popular mayor's third time running for the position.
Boughton said this time he on track to qualify for up to $8 million in public financing, according to the News-Times.
Boughton is in his ninth-term as mayor of Danbury, where he is a lifelong resident. He became a Danbury High School social studies teacher and later went on to become a state representative, according to his campaign website.

He has made ample use of Twitter for years and has amassed more than 35,000 followers. He often responds to citizen comments and his friendly teasing over school cancellations during snow storms have become well-known in the city and beyond.
The Danbury mayor had a brain tumor removed last year, but has since recovered.
