Danbury Men Arrested on Drug Dealing Charges After SWAT Raid: Police

The raid lead to the detainment of nine people following an extensive drug investigation.

DANBURY, CT — A SWAT raid lead to the arrest of two men on drug distribution charges following a lengthy investigation into reports of illegal drug sales at an apartment near the Park Avenue Elementary School in Danbury, according to police.

Police say that officers had been gathering evidence of drug dealing after residents had complained of drug sales at the apartment on 14 Division Street. On Thursday, the SWAT team raided the apartment which led to the detainment of nine people; as well as the seizure of illegal drugs, money and paraphernalia.

Raymond Henderson, 61, and Anthony "Lewis" Jones, 50, of Danbury had packaged cocaine and heroin for sale in their possession, according to police. Henderson is the lessee of the apartment.

The SWAT team was used due to the criminal history of those who frequented the apartment and the possibility of firearms being present, according to police.

Both Jones and Henderson were charged with narcotics possession, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school. possession of narcotics with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school, and possession of drug paraphernalia within 1,500 feet of a school.

Henderson is being held for a cash bond of $10,000, and Jones is being held on a remand to custody and a cash bond of $50,000.
