Danbury Music Centre Cancels Spring Gala

The arts center is still reeling from the cancellation of two performances of "The Nutcracker" last December.

DANBURY, CT --- The Board of Directors for the Danbury Music Centre has voted to cancel their 2018 spring gala. In a notification on their website, the cancellation of last December's annual production of "The Nutcracker" due to a snow storm has created the current "financial crisis."

The cancellation of the two shows cost the Music Centre $24,627 in refunded ticket sales and an estimated $4,823 in raffle and boutique revenues. The annual spring gala is expensive to mount, and the slim margin of revenue it typically yields would not cover the losses from the winter program's cancellation.

The Music Centre is soliciting donations on their website to offset their losses from December.
