Danbury Needs Firefighters

DANBURY, CT — The city is seeking entry-level firefighters to join the Danbury Fire Department.

"Danbury firefighters contribute significantly to the quality of life in the City of Danbury. We encourage all who are willing to commit to our community to apply for this rewarding career," fire officials said in a statement.

"The mission of the Danbury Fire Department is to 'Protect the life, property, and environment of all citizens in the most efficient and safe manner possible.' This mission is accomplished through emergency management, training, and education."
Upon being hired, successful applicants will participate in all aspects of the fire service including public education, emergency medical response, fire suppression, rescue, and many other types of emergencies.

In order to be considered for the position, applicants will be asked to take written, psychological, and physical examinations and be interviewed by the fire chief. The recruitment schedule will be provided during the orientation session. Applications will be available from July 1 through Sept. 1. Requirements for an entry-level fire position include holding a valid Candidate Physical Agility Test and a Connecticut or National EMT certification.
An informational orientation will be held via Zoom on June 18 at 6:30 p.m. Registration is required. The meeting will also be live-streamed to the City of Danbury YouTube page for those who do not wish to participate in the question and answer segment.
