Danbury Police Log: Shooting, Hate Crime
Danbury Police are investigating a shooting said to have occurred on Rose Hill Avenue, and a Hate Crime that occurred on State Street near Town Hill Avenue.

Danbury Police are investigating a reported shooting that may have occurred on Rose Hill Avenue in the area of Hoyt Street just after 5 p.m. Sunday.
The incident is under investigation, and the initial report said the victim was shot in the leg, made it home, and was taken to Danbury Hospital by ambulance. The initial report said the victim was shot during a robbery.
Danbury police are investigating these claims. The victim, 18, was shot in the foot, according to Danbury Police Public Information Officer Capt. Thomas Wendel. While the initial report said robbery was the motive, Wendel said the motive is unknown.

In a separate incident, Danbury police charged Paul Arbitelle, 37, of South Street, with breach of peace, third-degree assault, threatening, interfering with a police officer, intimidation based on race or bigotry and deprivation of rights, following an incident Saturday evening on State Street near Town Hill Avenue.
Police said Arbitelle walked by a second man who was speaking on the telephone, and Arbitelle thought the man was talking to him. Police said Arbitelle attacked the man and shouted racial epithets at the victim. People came out of a nearby house and held Arbitelle until the police and emergency medical personnel arrived.
Police said Arbitelle was highly intoxicated, and he kept yelling racial epithets while they tried to subdue him. Arbitelle was taken to Danbury Hospital for observation.
