Danbury Power Outages: Thousands Lose Service Monday

Eversource is responding to power outages across the state.

DANBURY, CT — Thousands of residents lost power service in Danbury Monday afternoon as whipping winds continue to knock down trees and power lines across the state.

Eversource is reporting that much of the city has regained power after over 4,500 residents had lost service earlier this afternoon.

Numerous nearby communities are dealing with power outages. At around 12:30 p.m., Eversource posted on Facebook that crews are working to fix outages statewide. The cause of the outages in Danbury are not yet clear, nor is the estimated time of return.

It's always smart to check your refrigerator temperature after any power outage, no matter how long power is out. According to foodsafety.gov, you should check the temperature inside of your refrigerator and freezer and discard any perishable food items that have been above 40 degrees for two hours or more.
