Danbury Principal Accused of Sexual Assault Placed on Paid Leave
District officials learned of the lawsuit on Friday.
DANBURY, CT — The interim principal at King Street Primary School, who has been accused of sexually abusing a boy beginning in the late 1990s, has been placed on paid leave, according to a statement released by the school district Monday.
Marc Poliquin, 37, has denied the allegations in the lawsuit filed in state Superior Court in Waterbury. District officials learned of the lawsuit on Friday, and have placed Poliquin on paid leave "without prejudice" while officials review the allegations.
The lawsuit alleges that Marc Poliquin, who was 15 at the time, sexually abused a 10-year-old boy between 50 and 100 times from 1996 to 2003. The boy, named as John Doe in the suit, suffered "extreme trauma, mental anguish, and psychological injuries, which are permanent in nature," according to the complaint.

The abuse occurred mostly in Poliquin's home, then in Woodbury, according to the suit. The documents list the plaintiff as currently living in Haddam.
In their statement, District officials state that they "...do not have any information substantiating these allegations, which date back to the 1990s. We hope to resolve this matter promptly, but we cannot provide an estimate at this time of when we will be able to do so."
