Danbury Residents Petition Against Controverisal Transfer Station Permit: Report
Residents are petition the City to fight the permit, issued by the state last year.

DANBURY, CT — East end residents are petitioning to urge city officials to fight for a reversal of the issuance of a state permit for a garbage transfer station on Plumtrees Road, reports the News Times.
Over 800 residents have signed the petition, which was delivered to city council this week. City Council members on Thursday said they would fight the petition, and City Councilman John Esposito III said the council is taking the issue very seriously.
The transfer station, backed by businessman Joseph Putnam who has been at odds with the city for nearly a decade, would be located in an industrial zone home to an auto wrecking yard, a rock mining operation, an asphalt plant and a closed landfill.
