Speakers from the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services Addressed the Danbury Rotary Club
Michael DeGrosse and Timothy Braziel from the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services spoke to the Danbury Rotary Club at its meeting of September 6th.
Are you willing or able to open your home up to a developmentally disabled child? That is the question our speakers asked of us. Community Companion Homes (CCH) is a program developed to provide a loving and permanent home for a child or adult with an intellectual disability who needs placement outside of their current living environment. The providers will be trained and licensed by the State of CT, and given total support services by the state. Our speakers insist that this is a wonderful opportunity to “give” to someone who needs a chance to live in a loving home, often after years in residential care with no family of their own.
It’s a daunting sacrifice, but that is who we are. Any takers? If you are interested in this program, or might know someone who is, contact Kathleen Calo, CCH Manager at (203) 294-5025.
