Danbury Water System Upgrades And Improvements Bond Passes

Danbury residents voted to pass the Danbury Water System Upgrades and Improvements Bond Referendum on Tuesday.

DANBURY, CT — City residents voted to pass the Danbury Water System Upgrades and Improvements Bond Referendum on Tuesday.

The final tally was 712 (83 percent) yes to 143 (17 percent) no, according to a statement from the Mayor's Office.

"This vote will allow the City of Danbury to upgrade crucial components of the existing water system assets, facilities and infrastructure needed for Danbury to continue to provide the best and most reliable drinking water for this growing City today and in the future," Mayor Dean Esposito said.

Improvements and upgrades include the Lake Kenosia Well Field, the West Lake and Margerie Water Treatment Plants, the raw water supply system, the treated water distribution system and extension of such and water storage tank rehabilitation and or replacement, and compliance with EPA’s 2021 Lead and Copper Rule.

The last major water treatment plant upgrades were performed at the West Lake Water Treatment Plant in 1982, and at the Margerie WTP in 1998.
