“Day of Action” Volunteers Beautify Healing Hearts Center

As part of the United Way Day of Action in Western Connecticut, employees from Boehringer Ingelheim (BI) in Ridgefield, Conn., came to the Healing Hearts Center for Grieving Children and Families, a program of Regional Hospice and Home Care, to beautify the gardens and grounds, which provide a peaceful place of reflection following the loss of a loved one.

“Our thanks to our friends at BI, who consistently support the work we do at Regional Hospice to bring real hope to those facing advanced illnesses, their caregivers and their families,” said Regional Hospice President and CEO Cynthia E. Roy. “Their work to beautify the grounds of our bereavement center will mean a lot to the families who come there for support.”

Ninety Boehringer Ingelheim employees participated in a variety of projects in the community during the June 4 event. “Community service is part of our company’s culture,” said Ann Wainright, associate director, Corporate Social Responsibility at Boehringer Ingelheim USA Corporation. “While our employees serve, they enjoy working with their colleagues and making new connections with those they don’t know. The day provides us the opportunity to ‘pay it forward’ and, at the end of the day, the satisfaction of making a difference and leaving an imprint.”
