Family Faces Struggle In Danbury Child Abuse Case

Video footage showed the nanny intentionally burning a 3-year-old girl, according to police.

The Danbury family whose children were severely abused by their nanny is facing troubles that go beyond the court case.

A family friend spoke to the News Times saying the family is struggling to pay the medical bills and the 3-year-old girl who was intentionally burned by the nanny was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder. The children’s therapist has set up a GoFundMe page for the victims.

Lidia Quilligana, 32, was charged on March 27 after video footage showed her intentionally burning and force feeding the 3-year-old girl. According to police, when the mother arrived home and noticed the injuries to her child, Quilligana said the child accidentally touched the stove while she was tending to other children.

The child was treated for the injuries.

The mother reviewed the video from the hidden nanny camera and observed that the injuries were intentionally inflicted upon her daughter by Quilligana, police said.

Quilligana is facing a total of 23 felony charges after prosecutors viewed footage that showed the nanny abusing the girl and her 1-year-old twin siblings , according to the News Times. Quilligana has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The next hearing in the case is scheduled for Oct. 29.
