Folk Legend Tom Rush to Perform at Palace Danbury

A Wonderful Afternoon of Songs and Storytelling.

Folk legend TOM RUSH is coming to The Palace Danbury on Sunday September 17 for a wonderful afternoon of songs and storytelling.

Rush is a gifted musician and performer, whose shows offer a musical celebration…a journey into the tradition and spectrum of what music has been, can be, and will become.

His distinctive guitar style, wry humor and warm, expressive voice have made him both a legend and a lure to audiences around the world. His shows are filled with the rib-aching laughter of terrific story-telling, the sweet melancholy of ballads and the passion of gritty blues.

Rush's impact on the American music scene has been profound. He helped shape the folk revival in the '60s and the renaissance of the '80s and '90s, his music having left its stamp on generations of artists.

His early recordings introduced the world to the work of Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne and James Taylor. Subsequently, his Club 47 concerts brought attention to emerging artists such as Nanci Griffith and Shawn Colvin.

Now celebrating over 50 years as a touring singer/songwriter, Tom continues to break new ground. His most recent CD release was awarded top Folk Album of the Year by the International Folk Alliance. His Youtube clip of “Remember Song” has become an internet sensation with over six million hits to date!

Opening the show will be Sherman's own Don Lowe. Don's brand of Americana music explores life with songs that are in turns witty, arcane, sad, and sometimes, downright silly. Since 2010, he has been the open mic host for the venerable Towne Crier Café now located in Beacon, NY and he hosts a radio show, “LOCAL HEROES: Independent Music of the Greater Hudson Valley and Beyond…” for WPWL, Pawling Public Radio that features local independent musical artists. Don’s second CD, Out Here, was released in September 2013 and his first release, Dogs, Clowns, and Belles came out in 2010. His third CD is set for release in October, 2017.
