Former Danbury Mayor Gene Enriquez's Domestic Violence Case Dismissed: Report

The former mayor was accused of striking his wife several times.

DANBURY, CT — The domestic violence charges against former Danbury Mayor Gene Enriquez were dismissed Tuesday, reports the News Times.

The former Democratic Party chairman stepped aside after his arrest on a charge of third-degree assault, but faced pressure to do so much earlier. Enriquez was accused of punching, kicking, and slapping his wife after coming home drunk, according to police.

Enriquez completed a family violence education program, which led to the dismissal of the charges. He was not in court Tuesday to provide comments.
