Former Danbury Teacher Charged With Stalking, Sexual Assault: Police

The ex-teacher has denied all the student's allegations, according to police. He is being held on a $200,000 bond.

DANBURY, CT — A former Danbury teacher under investigation by police for an improper relationship with a teen-aged student has now been charged with sexual assault, documents reveal.

Salvatore Maimone, 41, has been charged with second-degree sexual assault, second-degree stalking and interfering with an officer, according to state police documents.

The investigation into Maimone began after the student told a school counselor of a sexual relationship between her and the teacher, documents state.

Upon learning of the relationship, detectives spoke interviewed the student. She told police the teacher made advances towards her and expressed a desire to see her outside school, documents state.

The relationship became sexual after Maimone convinced the student to visit him on the site of his second job, according to police.

But Maimone became unwelcome as he began to stalk the student, according to police documents. The student complained to police that the teacher began appearing uninvited at places she went, documents state.
