Foundation honoring Ridgefield boy holds book drive for Danbury non-profit

Family & Children's Aid receives results of book drive

Danbury, CT, February 13, 2017: Over the last few months the Max Michael Rosenfield Foundation has been collecting brand new books to support Family & Children’s Aid. Every book donated was matched by the Foundation, leaving the total books donated at a remarkable 518.

The Max Michael Rosenfield Foundation was created to honor Max Rosenfield, a young boy from Ridgefield who left us too early at the age of seven. His birthday was May 18th, coincidentally (and touchingly) mirroring the 518 books donated. These books are a gift to celebrate Max and to share his love of reading.

The Foundation celebrates Max’s life and continues his acts of friendship, service and community. He was the son of Jill and Ken Rosenfield of Ridgefield and a student at Farmingville Elementary School.

Family & Children’s Aid will give these new books out to the children of its programs in all of its locations' waiting rooms and in a bookstore found in the Danbury location to promote literacy and offer books to children who may not otherwise have free access to them. The Foundation took special care to order specific books targeted at the range of ages served by Family & Children’s Aid.

The bookstore also known as “The Newsstand” sits amongst four other stores in Family & Children’s Aid’s own subway station, complete with play subway car. These stores are stocked with donated items that are used as incentives for kids who experienced abuse, neglect or trauma.
