Immigration Activists Target Boughton in City Hall Protest
Connecticut Students For a Dream and the American Civil Liberties Union protested in front of City Hall.

DANBURY — Local immigration activists targeted Mayor Mark Boughton in a rain-drenched protest outside City Hall on Wednesday, The News Times reported.
Nearly 30 protesters representing Connecticut Students For a Dream and the American Civil Liberties Union were critical of what they term Boughton's "continued complicity with ICE terror." Last month Danbury was the scene for two high-profile arrests made by U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement ICE) agents.
The activists called on Boughton, a leading candidate for governor, to order local police officers to stop cooperating with ICE.

On July 6, ICE agents nabbed a man after he was hit by a car on White Street while trying to flee. The ACLU issued a statement at that time accusing the Danbury police of undermining public safety and justice by "by using the Danbury Courthouse as a hunting ground for deportation."
A week later, ICE agents were called in to arrest a man who had been pulled over for speeding once a database check of his license revealed he was wanted for an outstanding deportation order.

Boughton was not in City Hall during the protest.
