Latest Danbury Coronavirus Updates

"Our world is not going to change back overnight, like people think," Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton said

DANBURY, CT — There are 681 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus in Danbury, Mayor Mark Boughton announced at a Thursday evening news conference. The number reflects the tally from the Connecticut Department of Public Health, as well as private and out-of-state test facilities.

After telling viewers that Gov. Ned Lamont announced earlier in the day that Connecticut public schools, restaurants and bars will not reopen on April 20 as originally planned, a viewer asked if he thought that June events were still on the table.

"There may be events in June, if the governor loosens up the regulations, but I'm going to tell you, without a vaccine in your body — or if you've had COVID-19 and have beaten it, and have the antibodies — you should not be going to any event with a lot of people there. You are just rolling the dice," Boughton said. "Our world is not going to change back overnight, like people think."
