Legislators Demand 'Detailed Plans' for Addressing Declining Danbury Branch Ridership: Report

The U.S. legislators say that the decline in ridership is not due to a decline in demand. What do you think?

DANBURY, CT — Connecticut's U.S. legislators are demanding plans for a fix to a decline in ridership numbers on the Metro-North's Danbury branch, reports the Daily Voice.

Sen. Chris Murphy, Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Rep. Elizabeth Etsy penned a letter to Metro-North President Joseph Giulietti asking for detailed plans to address the decline. The letter came in a response to a Republican-American report that indicated ridership on the Danbury branch decreased 2.4 percent in 2016. In the letter, the lawmakers indicated that the decline in ridership is due to poor service, not a lack of demand. The lawmakers noted that their constituents regularly ask for more reliable service, and that constituents rely on the service to get to and from work.
