Kara Illium of Housatonic Habitat for Humanity recently delivered updated copies of the “Guide to Local Thrift Shops” to Savers Thrift Shop in Brookfield. More than a dozen local thrift stores including Housatonic Habitat’s ReStore in Danbury are included in the free guide, providing information so that shoppers can find just the type of merchandise they are after. “Thrift shops not only make environmental and economic sense, but also create a unique and fun shopping experience that often supports a mission“ said Fran Normann, Executive Director of Housatonic Habitat.
Free copies of the Local Thrift Guide are available at Savers and other participating locations, and on our website: www.housatonichabitat.org. Housatonic Habitat for Humanity, which has been serving Western Connecticut since 1991, operates a 10,000 square foot thrift warehouse at 51 Austin Street, Danbury, which is open to the public. The warehouse supports Habitat’s mission of building affordable housing for first-time homeowners in the greater Danbury area.
