Mackenzie Newsome's Memory Lives on Through Scholarship

Mackenzie Newsome's memory will live on through a scholarship fund her parents have created in her name. "Mac," as she was affectionately called by her parents Michael and Melissa, was a Danbury four-year-old girl who passed away in March 2013 after a yearlong battle with cancer.

Her parents announced on their Facebook page “Prayers for Mackenzie” that they were awarding a Danbury High School student with the scholarship on Monday, June 9, 2014:

"Mike and I are very excited to announce that tonight, the very 1st Mackenzie Newsome scholarship will be awarded at Danbury High School. We are incredibly grateful to be able to carry on our daughter's name and her kindness."
