Motorist Seriously Injured In Danbury Crash

Crews needed the Jaws of Life to free the driver from the wreck.

DANBURY, CT — Firefighters needed to extricate a motorist from their car following an accident on Interstate 84 Thursday morning.

At 7:15 a.m., crews from Stony Hill Fire & EMS were dispatched to I-84 East between Exits 8 and 9 following a report of an accident. There first responders found a Chevrolet sedan in the woods off the highway, with a single occupant trapped inside.

After cutting through the doors and roof to gain access, firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free the driver in about 25 minutes.

The occupant driver was taken to Danbury Hospital with serious injuries, firefighters reported on Facebook.
