Obituary: Irene E. Schlemmer

Irene E. (Surovy) Schlemmer, of Danbury, died at her home Thursday, December 1, 2011.  She was born on February 9, 1913 in Czecholovakia, the daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Surovy.

Also the loving wife to the late Edward Schlemmer, she is survived by her children, Gary Schlemmer and his wife Daniel, David Schlemmer and his wife Carol, Ward Schlemmer and his wife Diane, Wayne Schlemmer, Wendy Gerel and her husband Gary, Ronnie Schlemmer and his wife Pat, Sandy Redman and her husband Lewis, Donna Burkey and her husband Butch, Nancy Johns and her husband Karey, Janet Kaulick, Gloria Couture and her husband Paul, Philip Schlemmer and his wife Connie, John Schlemmer and his wife Renee, Edward Schlemmer and his wife Margret, Anna Reynolds, Mary Russo and Irene Foshay and her husband Robert; her sisters, Mary Wiacek and Helen Best and many grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Robert Schlemmer and her daughters, Hattie and Diane Schlemmer; her sister, Sue Blakely and her brother Joe Surovy Sr.

She loved bingo as well as crocheting. Her large family was her life and passion and she will be missed by all.

The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm on Monday, December 5 at Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, December 6 at Cornell Memorial Home. Burial will follow in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
