Obituary: Joan C. Berry, 63, Formerly of Danbury

Joan C. Berry, 63, of Waterbury, CT, formerly of Danbury, CT passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at White Plains Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born to the late John J. and Rosemary McGivern and raised in Danbury, CT. She attended St Peter's School and Immaculate High School. She was a graduate of Henry Abbott Technical School of Nursing.

Ms. Berry was a caring and compassionate Nurse and Wound Care Consultant. She began her career at Danbury Hospital and was most recently employed as an LPN WCC by Getinge Group.

She believed strongly in community service and was heavily involved with the Ladies Ancient order of Hibernians organization serving as the CT State President. She was also the past President and current Treasurer, and Past National Supply Chair of Mary McWhorter Division #58, Chairperson of the AOH/LAOH Scholarship Committee and is a Greater Danbury Irish Cultural Foundation Board member.

She leaves behind her children: Andrea Theodore and her husband, Brian, of Fairfield; Nicholas Papazoglou of Waterbury; Jeremy Papazoglou and his wife, Alexandra, of Plantsville, CT. Her siblings: Barbara Randall of Brookfield; and John Berry and his wife, Sharon, of Sarasota, FL. Three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at St. Peter Church, Danbury with the Rev. Jeffrey Couture officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.Friends will be received from 4pm-7pm on Tuesday, March, 7, 2017 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.Contributions in Joan's memory may be made to the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Div. #58, 6 Lake Ave., Danbury, CT 06810 or to the American Heart Association , 5 Brookside Dr., Wallingford, CT 06492.
