Obituary: Robert E. Light, 85, Danbury High School Graduate

Robert E. Light, Sr., of Danbury, beloved husband of Vivian (Tetzlaff) Light, died peacefully on Thursday, March 9th at Hancock Hall. He was born in Danbury on October 15, 1931, son of the late Edward and Carrie (Kniffen) Light. He was a graduate of Danbury High School.

A Veteran of the Korean War, Robert proudly served with the United States Air Force as a radio engineer.

He worked as an electronic engineer and held supervisor positions through his career beginning with Data Control Systems. He continued his career with Mechanical Research, and retired from Metraplex Corp. During his retirement he enjoyed working as a sales associate for Sears in the Danbury Fair Mall.

Robert had many hobbies and interests, such as building radio control model airplanes, fishing and bowling. He was also an amateur astronomer, and was lovingly known by neighborhood children as "Mr. Starman."

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather; he shared his faith and love of God with his family. One of his proudest accomplishments was helping to expand and build a new home for Danbury Advent Christian Church located at 101 East Pembroke Road, in the early 1980's.

In addition to his wife of 61 years, Vivian, he will be sadly missed by his three sons, Keith Light and his wife, Gertrude, Eric Light, and Robert E. Light, Jr and his wife, Susan; his four grandchildren, Zachari and his wife, Cara, Travis and his wife, Kristin, Katrina and Kendra Light; and his great granddaughter, Audrey.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, March 15th at 2:00pm at Wooster Cemetery.
