Police: Emotionally Disturbed Danbury Man Subdued by Cops
When EMS personnel responded to an attempted suicide call, cops say they were assaulted by a club- and knife-wielding man.

DANBURY, CT --- When EMS workers responded to a report of a man attempting suicide at his Great Plain Road residence on Wednesday morning around 10:30, they responded but were refused entry into the man's home. Police say in a media release that the man became verbally and physically aggressive toward them, swinging a wooden club at them.
The ambulance crew contacted the Danbury police, who were met with the same aggressive behavior when they arrived. Police say the man threatened to kill them if he entered his home. The officers then contacted the Emergency Services Unit (ESU) of the Danbury PD.
Crisis negotiators from the ESU addressed the man inside his house from an open window in the rear of the building, attempting to convince him to surrender for treatment. Instead, the man emerged wielding a large knife and a large club, saying that he wanted to die. The police report says that the man threw the knife at the negotiators and attempted to strike them with the club, at which point officers deployed tasers and physical force to restrain him.
