Protesters Want Danbury Pet Shop Owner's Stores Closed After He Was Accused of Animal Cruelty

Protesters are calling for closing for all of the American Breeders pet stores to be closed as the owner faces charges of animal cruelty.

Protesters boycotted a Mohegan Lake pet store recently, calling for American Breeders pet stores to be closed after the owner was accused of animal abuse, according to News 12 Westchester.

Richard Doyle owns American Breeders on Federal Road in Danbury, as well as stores in Mamaroneck, NY, and Mohegan Lake, NY. According to NBC Connecticut, Doyle has been accused of operating on the eye of a Neapolitan mastiff, although he is unlicensed. The female dog sustained severe bleeding after the procedure.

Doyle is also accused of failing to provide proper care to a sick Shih-Tzu puppy that was in need of immediate medical care and was later euthanized.

Patch reported that Doyle plead not guilty to two counts of felony witness tampering in January. He also plead not-guilty to three felony counts of animal cruelty.
