Stanley Engineered Fastening ‘Gives Back’ to Housatonic Habitat through their Global Week of Service

Article about volunteering at Housatonic Habitat for Humanity

Danbury, CT 10/20/17

The Danbury team of employees from Stanley Engineered Fastening, led by Kim Collins, volunteered at Housatonic Habitat for Humanity in Danbury as part of their ‘Global Week of Service’ from Oct 9-13. Stanley Engineered Fastening is a division of Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. which caters to the aerospace, automotive, electronics and telecom industries. The Stanley team chose Housatonic Habitat as the organization to reap the rewards of their service. Volunteers from Stanley participated in a variety of activities in the Danbury ReStore including organizing our inventory, light repairs, painting, fall clean-up and more. A second team from Stanley helped support the construction work underway at Housatonic Habitat’s newest home in New Milford.

Beyond the hammer, Housatonic Habitat contributes to the greater Danbury region by creating homes that can transform a street and neighborhood, and add value to the community. Housatonic Habitat is a builder and a bank that provides a 0% mortgage on all homes it builds and then sells. It also provides low-cost repairs to help seniors age in place. Its home improvement warehouse (Danbury ReStore) sells donated items that are re-used, re-purposed, and re-cycled.
