Stolen Pistol Found In Car: Danbury PD

DANBURY, CT — Two Danbury men were arrested after a stolen pistol was found inside a vehicle, according to police.

Officers were sent to Coalpit Hill Road around 7:30 a.m. March 3 to investigate after a complaint of suspicious activity.

Officers found two men sitting in a car smoking marijuana, police said. They found that vehicle occupant Anthony Abrahams, 20, had an active arrest warrant for stealing a firearm. They placed him under arrest and searched the vehicle. A 9mm pistol was found behind the driver's seat.

Abrahams later admitted the pistol belonged to him and his passenger didn't know about it. Neither Abrahams or his passenger live at Coalpit Hill Road.

A search of the pistol serial number determined it was reported stolen. Abrahams was charged with possession of a controlled substance, carrying a pistol without a permit, third-degree criminal trespass and two counts of stealing a firearm. He was held on $50,000 bail.

Passenger Feleix Nelson was charged with third-degree criminal trespass.
