Suspect On Lam After Injuring Cop During Chase: Danbury PD

Three police cruisers were damaged and an officer was injured during the chase. The suspect got away.

DANBURY, CT — Officers are seeking a man who damaged three police vehicles and injured a police officer during a pursuit Wednesday, according to police.

Police were patrolling the Steven Street area when they saw a suspected drug transaction involving a gray Acura RL. Two officers attempted to approach the Acura, which sped off, police said.

Other patrol officers worked to try and apprehend the Acura driver, but he intentionally struck three cruisers during the pursuit.

Officer Melissa Morill was hurt when the Acura smashed into her cruiser as she was attempting to exit the vehicle. Her leg was struck by the door of her own vehicle, but she managed to walk away with minor injuries.

The two other police vehicles were damaged when they were stopped as well, police said.

Police identified the suspect as Abdulwali "Tamel" Peterson from his vehicle registration. He was last seen traveling east on I-84 toward Newtown.

Police are seeking a warrant for Peterson's arrest.
