Teaching Helpful Hands by the Woman's Club of Danbury New Fairfield

WCDNF Volunteers at Danbury's Interfaith Early Learning Center

During the holiday season, there was a lot of talk about " The Elf On A Shelf". However, did you know that at Danbury's Interfaith Early Learning Center eleven elves came to life this holiday season? A class of 2 and 1/2 to 3 and 1/2 year old children enjoyed making elf hats. They sang songs, jingled their bells, and learned how to be helpful to others- just like Santa's elves do. These elves will now try to be more helpful around the house, at school, and with their friends and teachers. Karla Ryerson of New Milford, a member of the Woman's Club of Danbury/ New Fairfield, led the program just like many other volunteers of WCDNF do.

For over 6 years, the members have volunteered over 160 hours per year working with these youngsters . Some of the volunteers enjoy reading to a class, assisting in class projects, and helping the teachers with their tasks. These ladies provide an extra pair of helping hands to the center on a weekly basis.
