Danbury resident Roberto Perez is the “voice” of Housatonic Habitat for Humanity. Just call the affiliate phone system and hear his voice. Perez has been a shopper at Housatonic Habitat for Humanity’s Danbury ReStore for ten years. He began volunteering at the ReStore two years ago where he provides customer service. It was only recently that he became the “voice” of Habitat. ReStore is Habitat’s 10,000 square-foot thrift warehouse located just past the corner of White St. and Federal Rd. on Austin St. (off Shalvoy’s Lane) in Danbury, CT.
Born and raised in the Bronx, Perez has been a Danbury resident since 1991. He spent his career working in a variety of roles in the telecommunications industry before retiring in 2011. Following his retirement, he attended the Connecticut School of Broadcasting in Stratford. Perez began volunteering as a voice actor for TV and radio and became a light and sound technician for the Ridgefield Theater Barn. He provides technical support to local theatres in Pound Ridge and South Salem, NY as well as Newtown, CT. He started acting in 2015 and was recently in his fifth show “A Trip to Bountiful” in Newtown.
The thrift warehouse is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday and sells new and donated furniture, appliances, lighting, building materials and more. See www.facebook.com/DanburyRestore. ReStore sales help support Housatonic Habitat’s mission to build workforce homes. Contact info@housatonichabitat.org or call 203-744-1340 x104 to volunteer. Visit: www.HousatonicHabitat.org.
