WCSU In Danbury Will Present 'Bat Boy: The Musical'

DANBURY, CT — Western Connecticut State University’s Department of Theatre Arts presents two weekends of live performances of “Bat Boy: The Musical” at the university’s Visual and Performing Art Center MainStage Theatre, 43 Lake Ave. Extension, Danbury, from Friday, Oct. 28, through Sunday, Nov. 6.

The musical comedy/horror show is based on a story once printed in The Weekly World news about a half boy/half bat creature found in a cave in West Virginia, and what happens to him within the community when he tries to behave like a “normal” boy. The WCSU production is directed by associate professor and Musical Theatre coordinator Tim Howard, with music direction by Justin P. Cowan, Theatre Arts department chair and associate professor, and choreographed by adjunct instructor Jen Turey.

This production contains mature themes and language and is recommended for adult audiences. Tickets are $20 plus fees for non-WCSU students and senior citizens, and $30 plus fees for general admission.

All tickets can be purchased in advance online here. Show times are Friday, Oct. 28 and Nov. 4, at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 29 and Nov. 5, at 2 and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 30 and Nov. 6, at 2 p.m.

The main cast features Raul Calderon, of Waterbury, as Bat Boy/Edgar; Bella Bosco, of Delaware, Ohio, and Katie Geniuch, of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, as Meredith Parker; Ben Muckenthaler, of Tucson, Arizona, as Dr. Thomas Parker; Alyssa McDonald, of Nyack, New York, and Sydney Maher, of Milford, as Shelley Parker; Berny Balbuena, of Newburgh, New York, as Sherriff Reynolds; Liv Hendrickson, of Callicoon, New York, as Mrs. Taylor; Ethan Rombalski, of Turner, Maine, as Rick Taylor; Jaxon Beirne, of Milford, as Ron Taylor; Kendyl Grace Davis, of Cromwell, as Ruthie Taylor; Chloe Kramer, of Poughkeepsie, New York, as Mayor Maggie; Teagan La’Shay, of Seymour, as Rev. Billy Hightower; and Immanuel Farmer, of New York, New York, as Pan.
