WCSU works with Housatonic Habitat on earth-friendly projects

Supporting the Housatonic ReStore & new home build in New Milford

More than 20 students from Western Connecticut State University (WCSU) will participate in a “Western Day of Service” at Housatonic Habitat for Humanity on Friday, April 20 as part of an Earth Week celebration. “Students will be coming by the bus-loads,” said Housatonic Habitat Executive Fran Normann, “to work on our two new Habitat homes in New Milford, and at our ReStore thrift warehouse. It promises to be an exciting day.”

Housatonic Habitat is kicking off a week-long celebration on Tuesday which includes activities and daily targeted sales in its ReStore thrift warehouse at 51 Austin Street, and at operations in the Greater Danbury area. “We will hold a raffle, distribute earth-friendly gifts, and be available to answer questions about recycling, re-using and re-purposing everyday items,” she said. “Everyone is welcomed to celebrate Earth Day with us.”

Housatonic Habitat for Humanity focuses on making a meaningful difference in the lives of qualified working families by promoting financial stability and self-sufficiency through ownership of affordable homes. By providing decent, affordable, safe housing to qualified regional families, Housatonic Habitat contributes to community revitalization in the greater Danbury region by creating homes that can transform a street and neighborhood and add value to the community.
