Youth Sports Can Resume In Danbury: Mayor

Play Ball: Mayor Mark Boughton said that youth baseball, girls softball, and soccer​ can resume in Danbury as of Oct. 8.

DANBURY, CT — Youth sports will return to city playing fields on Oct. 8, Mayor Mark Boughton announced Monday.

Boughton said that youth baseball, girls softball, and soccer can resume provided that the team has turned in a safety plan to the city Department of Health.

"Most of you have already done that," the mayor said during his Monday evening Facebook livestream.

Boughton placed youth sports on a hiatus following a surge in positive coronavirus cases six weeks ago.

Ten new cases of the virus were reported on Monday, marking a slight downward trend.
