DARIEN, CT — One man has died and two others remain injured following a shooting that occurred early Wednesday morning on Interstate 95, according to the Connecticut State Police.

The men were found wounded inside a car in Darien at 3:42 a.m., police said.

The car, a 2013 Infiniti G37 with New York registration, had exited I-95 at exit 10, and was seen driving slowly southbound on Noroton Avenue in the area of Maple Street when it was stopped by a Darien police sergeant, police said.

The driver, Jovel McKenzie, 29, suffered a superficial wound to the right shoulder and refused medical treatment.

Rashawn McCalla, 28, another passenger on the rear left-side of the car, underwent surgery and is currently listed in stable condition, police said.

Police said earlier on Wednesday the Infiniti was traveling on I-95 southbound between Bridgeport and Darien when another vehicle came alongside and fired gunshots.

Detectives closed a stretch of I-95 southbound from exits 18-16 in order to canvass the area on foot Wednesday. Police said they recovered 10 shell casings south of the exit 16 on-ramp.

Additionally, the Infiniti was seized and "numerous items of evidentiary value" were recovered, police said.

"This case remains active, fluid and ongoing," CSP said early Wednesday evening.
