2-Hour Delayed Opening Announced For Darien Public Schools

Connecticut is still digging out following the major winter storm that barreled through the region over the weekend.

DARIEN, CT — Darien Public Schools has announced that it will operate under a two-hour delay on Tuesday, Jan. 27.

The school district, like many others around the state, was closed on Monday following the major winter storm that barreled through the region Sunday.

"The delay will provide time for road salt to melt any ice and for our facilities staff to put more salt down in the parking lots and walkways at the schools," said DPS Superintendent Dr. Eric Byrne in an announcement Monday evening. "The safety and wellbeing of our students, faculty, and staff is our highest priority."

Byrne noted additional emergency weather information, including school arrival/dismissal times and official weather-related decisions, will be posted directly to the DPS website.
