Audit Trails

The estimated bill for the forensic audit looks to be in the range of $12,000 to $15,000. This seems low to me. I would have thought it would be higher. It is quite possible that the firm is doing the audit as a loss leader. If they do a good job, then they might be in the running to do more audit work for Darien in the future. It would seem that they would have to veryify that those performing special education services were properly credentialed at the time the services were  performed. They would also have to verify the time spent performing services. In other words, they will have to validate bills to the state. I wonder if they will go the other way and see if those assigned to special education were properly charging their time so that Darien received payments that were due the town. We need to remember that the Gamm Report found that the school system could not track a special education student We can track ICBMs and rental cars but we couldn't track kids in the school system.
