Carjacking Attempt Reported At I-95 Rest Stop In Darien: State Police
Police said the incident occurred in the early morning hours of Wednesday.
DARIEN, CT — State police are seeking witnesses to three carjacking incidents that occurred Wednesday morning, including an attempted carjacking at the I-95 rest area in Darien.
At 4:27 a.m., Troopers from Troop G in Bridgeport responded to the I-95 northbound rest area in Darien.
A man told police he had parked his Audi in the rest area parking lot and was about to go inside the building when an older model white sedan pulled up from behind and two young men exited and approached him, police said, noting that a female passenger remained in the Audi.

One suspect grabbed the man and tried to physically pull him away from the Audi, according to police. The man hit the suspect in the face, which caused him to retreat backwards.
The man then quickly reentered his Audi and the suspect re-approached and tried to open the driver’s side door, police said.

At the same time, police said, the second suspect tried to phsyically remove the female passenger through the passenger side front door, but she was able to pull the door closed.
Once the man was able to secure the driver’s side door, the two suspects retreated, police said. They were last seen getting back into the white sedan and fleeing from the area.
No weapons were displayed or implied during the attempted carjacking, police said.
At 5:27 a.m., Troopers from Troop G-Bridgeport received a 911 call of an attempted armed carjacking that occurred at the I-95 southbound rest area in Milford.
A man was able to spray a suspect with gasoline, police said, adding that the suspect then fled the scene in a black sedan with an unknown number of occupants.
About 10 minutes later, a woman was confronted by an armed suspect wearing dark clothing at the I-95 northbound rest area in Milford, police said. Two more suspects approached her, and one or more of them drove off in her Acura RDX, police said.
