Community Conversation On Antisemitism, Hate Speech Scheduled In Darien

DARIEN, CT — Superintendent of Darien Public Schools Dr. Alan Addley, in conjunction with the First Selectman's office and the Anti-Defamation League, will host a community conversation for PK-12 parents on antisemitism and hate speech on Feb. 27 at 6 p.m.

Addley mentioned the event during the Feb. 11 Board of Education meeting. The event will take place in the Middlesex Middle Schoo auditorium.

Racial slurs have been discovered at schools in town this year, most recently at Middlesex Middle School last month.

"As a District, we remain steadfast in our dedication to creating a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students, where every child feels valued and respected," Addley said in a letter to families following the discovery at MMS on Jan. 23. "Acts of hate and intolerance will not be tolerated. We are committed to addressing these situations swiftly and transparently, ensuring that our response is thoughtful and thorough, and that all students feel safe and welcome."
