Darien Coronavirus: Drive-Thru Testing Canceled In Darien: UPDATE

DARIEN, CT — A plan to offer drive-thru coronavirus testing in Darien has been canceled, First Selectman Jayme Stevenson and Darien Health Director David Knauf announced on Wednesday afternoon, a few hours after originally unveiling the plan.

"The Town of Darien will not be providing COVID-19 testing as previously announced," they said. "We appreciate the important work being done by Murphy Medical Associates to provide testing to our residents at their other locations. Please visit the Murphy Medical website at www.greenwichdocs.com for locations and times of testing."

Drive-thru testing was scheduled to begin on Thursday in the lower parking lot at Darien Town Hall, and was only going to be for residents who had a doctor's order, and who had been pre-screened and given a pre-set appointment.

New Canaan is scheduled to host drive-thru testing for residents of that town beginning on Friday, announced New Canaan Director of Emergency Management Mike Handler.

As of Tuesday afternoon, there were 68 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Connecticut, most of which are in Fairfield County.

Darien schools remain closed, and Town Hall is operating on a limited basis. Additionally, local restaurants and food establishments have turned to take-out, curbside delivery and home delivery for meals.

According to Stevenson and Knauf, additional testing sites that Darien residents can use include:

• Bridgeport Hospital - Ahlbin Center garage, 226 Mill Hill Ave., Bridgeport, Monday-Friday from 8 AM - 5 PM, Saturday & Sunday from 9 AM - 3 PM. Opens 3/17/20.
• Lawrence & Memorial Hospital - Parking lot A of the hospital, 365 Montauk Ave., New London, Monday - Friday from 9 AM - 5 PM, weekend times to be determined. Opens 3/17/20.
• Yale New Haven Hospital - 150 Sargent Drive, New Haven, Monday - Friday from 8 AM - 4:30 PM. Opens 3/17/20.
• Greenwich Hospital - located on hospital property in the lower level physician parking lot off of Lake Avenue (hospital address is 5 Perryridge Road). Monday - Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, Saturday & Sunday from 9 AM - 3 PM. Opened last week.
