Darien Urges Residents To Be Extra Cautious Due To Smoky Conditions

DARIEN, CT — Darien residents might notice a smoky scent in the air Wednesday.

The odor is due to wildfires in the northern part of Connecticut and in Massachusetts, and the Town of Darien is urging residents to exercise caution.

"Please just be careful outdoors if you are compromised in anyway," the town posted to Facebook. Residents should also be mindful of leaving windows open.

Connecticut and the region have experienced historic drought conditions, but some relief is on the way.

According to the National Weather Service, showers and thunderstorms are expected to roll into Darien early Thursday morning. Heavy rainfall is possible.
