Date Set For Darien Police Chief Swearing-In Ceremony

Chief Jeremiah P. Marron Jr., assumed command of the Darien Police Department on April 1 following the retirement of Donald Anderson.

DARIEN, CT — Darien Police Chief Jeremiah P. Marron Jr., will be sworn in during a ceremony at Town Hall on April 12, according to an anouncement from the department.

The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. in the Town Hall Auditorium, and all are welcome to attend. Marron assumed command of the Darien Police Department on April 1 following the retirement of Donald Anderson.

Marron is a 28-year veteran of the DPD. He graduated from the Connecticut Police Academy in 1996 and has served in both the detective division and field services as an officer and supervisor.
He became a patrol officer in 1996, a sergeant in 2006, a lieutenant in 2017 and a captain in 2019.

Before becoming chief, Marron was the department's executive officer and commander of the DPD Field Services Bureau.

Marron holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Sacred Heart University, and an advanced certificate in criminal justice education from the University of Virginia. He is also a 2022 graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va., and the FBINAA Regional Command College in 2023.

Throughout his tenure, Marron has earned the United States Attorney Award for Excellence (2016, 2017) for his work in investigations and professional law enforcement. Marron has also graduated from several other police-related programs at area universities.

The Darien Police Commiion appointed Marron as Anderson's successor in late February. Marron is the 12th chief in department history.
