Decision Reached On DUI Case Of CT Talk Show Host: Report

Steve Wilkos was arrested in connection with an alleged drunken rollover crash in Darien in January.

DARIEN, CT — Steve Wilkos, the talk show host and Darien resident, has been granted participation in a court-ordered Alcohol Education Program in connection with his drunken rollover crash and arrest in Darien in January, reports the Stamford Advocate.

Wilkos, who briefly appeared in Stamford Superior Court on Monday to hear the decision, must successfully complete the 15-week educational program in order to have the arrest removed from his record. He is scheduled to appear in court again next year after he should have completed the program.

About a month after the crash on West Avenue, Darien police charged the 53-year-old celebrity with operating under the influence and failure to drive right. Wilkos was alone in the vehicle and suffered injuries in the crash that required hospital treatment.

Police obtained a warrant for Wilkos' medical records from the crash, which placed his blood alcohol content level at .29 percent, which is more than three-times the legal limit.

In a statement to the community a few days after the arrest, Wilkos admitted to making a mistake by driving while intoxicated, and he thanked supporters for their words of encouragement.
