Middlesex Students Make History at Regional Competition

On April 14th, 8 Middlesex Middle School Students achieved outstanding success at the Bridgeport Regional History Bee claiming the coveted first place prize and a total of 6 places in the top ten. The 8 MMS students were well prepared for the competition having competed together all year long on their highly successful Middlesex Quiz Bowl teams.

MMS 7th grade student John Phipps took the top honors at the competition, which was held at Middlesex Middle School in Darien, CT. In addition to Phipps 1st place finish, 5 other MMS students placed in the top ten - Riya Krishnan, Maya Nalawade, John Phipps, Thomas Brown, Evan Tong, and Griffin Samroengraja. Nick Derby and Frank Drugge also had strong showings at this prestigious competition which featured approximately 100 students from New York and Connecticut schools.

Due to their high scores at this regional competition, all eight MMS students qualified for the National History Tournament to be held in Louisville, KY May 22, 2015.
